As one of the best independent living programs for young adults, students living in the Journey Home East would attend a local high school or college, and learn to take responsibility of a variety of life-skills oriented topics (i.e. shopping, meal preparation, maintaining cleanliness of living space and property, budgeting, transportation, time management, gaining employment, appropriate recreation, personal hygiene, nutrition, fitness, etc.).

We work with each individual student to create a personalized plan to help them find their purpose, and reach their goals. They then take part in various activities to help build their skills and develop personal growth.

backyardOur four-bedroom home, which is located on a quiet, safe street in the downtown area of Asheville, NC is perfectly suited to provide independent living for young women.  We are within walking distance to local amenities and a variety of employment, volunteer and educational opportunities that enhance the independent living component of our program. The residents of Journey Home East will find yoga and dance studios, a rock climbing gym, a variety of locally owned shops and restaurants, the YMCA fitness center, the Pack Memorial Public Library, and The Fine Arts Theater within walking and biking distance.
